First Balfour, Inc. (First Balfour)

First Balfour, Inc. (First Balfour) is one of the country’s largest engineering and construction companies today, with over 35 years of construction experience.  The company focuses on civil, mechanical and electrical works for road and bridge construction, residential and industrial buildings and plants, water supply and treatment plants, power plants, power transmission, and power distribution. It has also entered into interior fit-out works and facilities management.

First Balfour was originally a partnership with British firm Balfour Beatty. In 2004, Balfour Beatty sold its 40% shareholdings to First Holdings, making it a  wholly-owned subsidiary of First Holdings.

The highlight last year was the awarding of the St. Luke’s Hospital Project in Fort Bonifacio to the Makati Development Corporation-First Balfour joint venture.  The hospital will be a 600-bed, world-class medical center scheduled to be completed by the third quarter of 2009.  Another on-going project is the construction of the Porac, Tipo & Layac steel bridges on the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway, scheduled for completion in 2007.

First Balfour is registered with the Philippine Contractors Accreditation Board as Triple-A (AAA) contractor in General Building and General Engineering, the highest category in the construction industry. It also maintains its Integrated Management System certifications, one of the few construction companies to maintain such.
