First Gen Corporation (First Gen) was incorporated in 1998 as the primary holding company for the power generation and energy-related businesses of the Lopez Group. Although First Gen was incorporated in 1998, it has been involved in the power generation business since 1993 through its parent and controlling shareholder, First Holdings, when its first major investment in power generation, Bauang Private Power Corporation, was incorporated. First Gen’s core business activity is focused on power generation through its subsidiaries and associates. Today, First Gen is the largest Filipino-owned and –controlled independent power producer with an installed capacity of 1839 MW. First Gen holds interests in five operating power generation projects:

| First Gen exercises organizational supervision over First Holdings 60% stake in First Philippine Industrial Corporation, which owns the first commercial oil pipeline in the Philippines. In February 2006, First Gen successfully listed its shares in the Philippine Stock Exchange. In November 2007, First Gen, through its 60%-owned subsidiary Red Vulcan Holdings Corporation, won the bid for the remaining shares of the government of Philippine National Oil Company – Energy Development Corporation. First Gen maintains its ISO 9001:2000 certification from AJA Registrars Inc. with United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) accreditation. First Holdings owns 67% of First Gen.
